Xanthe Hall (@nuclearfreede) is co-director, disarmament expert and international campaigner for the German affiliate of  International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW). She is also co-founder and currently a board member of the German affiliate of ICAN, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2017.

She worked for the UK Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament before leaving Britain in 1985 to live in Berlin. She co-founded the German abolition network “Atomwaffen abschaffen – bei uns anfangen” in 1994.

Xanthe is a regular public speaker and a university lecturer on arms control and the history of the peace movement. She has widely published articles and is the chief editor of the German language educational website on nuclear weapons entitled “Atomwaffen A-Z”.

Xanthe was born in Scotland in 1959 and has British-German citizenship. When she is not campaigning for the abolition of nuclear weapons, she is to be found painting in Greece or digging in her Berlin garden.
