Svitlana Romanko ( @SvitlanaRomanko) is an environmental lawyer and a climate justice activist. She launched and coordinates Stand With Ukraine, a campaign to end the fossil fuel addiction that feeds Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war machine and to rapidly phase out fossil fuels everywhere.

Svitlana also founded a new organization, Razom We Stand (@RazomWeStand), calling for a total and permanent embargo on Russian fossil fuels and an immediate end to all investment in Russian oil and gas companies to cut off Putin’s money supply. “We are acting together to end war in Ukraine and fossil fuel-funded conflicts and accelerate a transition to a peaceful, fossil-fuel and dictatorship-free, green and just future in Ukraine and globally.”

She has worked for 350.org, the Laudato Si Movement and campaigned for a Just Green Recovery and Green Deal in Eastern Europe. She holds a PhD in environmental, natural resources, land and agrarian law, and a doctorate in climate change law, climate governance and climate policy.
