Mariam Jalabi (@MariamJalabi) is the Representative of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (@SyrCoalition) at the United Nations in New York. She is also a founding member of the Syrian Women’s Political Movement (@SyriaWPM). Mariam has led the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s diplomatic engagement with the Permanent Missions to the United Nations, UN Department of Political Affairs, and Office of the UN Secretary-General. Her work focuses on women’s inclusion in politics and decision-making. Her advocacy and leadership at the United Nations has proven instrumental in reframing a narrative on Syria within the UN community.
Mariam has served as a member of the Women’s Advisory Committee to the High Negotiations Committee and was a founding member of the Syrian Non-violence Movement.
She holds degrees in Political Science from McGill University and a Master’s degree from New York University’s Center for Global Affairs with a concentration in gender studies.
