Amal Abusrour is Director of Programs at the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling, an independent Palestinian NGO based in Ramallah. @WCLACPalestine  is a leading defender of women’s rights.

Amal has represented WCLAC at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva  and in advocacy missions to the European Union and individual European countries to influence duty bearers and to shed light on the gendered impact of Israeli military occupation on the lives of Palestinian women.

She has written scholarly papers on Palestinian civil society and on the effect of conflict and militarization on Palestinian women associated with the Israeli occupation.

She has dedicated 23 years to working with national and international organizations in Palestine. She was Program Manager with Oxfam and Head of Programs with Islamic Relief Worldwide.

From 2003 to 2005, she served at the  Prime Minister’s Office at the Palestinian National Authority, where she coordinated the public administration and civil service within the Reform Program.

Amal has an MA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Leeds. She completed a one-year advanced professional program in public policy and public administration at the University of North Carolina. She was in the Atkin Fellowship program at the Department of War Studies, King’s College in London.
