Biography
Atosha Ndihano Esther is a peace advocate and women’s rights leader from eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Raised in the aftermath of conflict, she has dedicated her life to addressing the social injustices and gender inequalities affecting women and youth in her country.
She is the Director of WIMAGE, a non-partisan NGO that promotes women’s participation in democratic processes and documents their experiences in pursuit of gender equality. Atosha co-founded the DRC’s Youth, Peace, and Security Coalition, helping shape national strategies on youth and women in peacebuilding.
Through the Street Business School, she has coached over 450 women from low-income backgrounds to launch small businesses, and she serves as a facilitator for the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs, a U.S.-funded program empowering female entrepreneurs in the DRC.
A Mandela Washington Fellow and World Pulse Ambassador, Atosha uses digital platforms to amplify grassroots activism. Her work has been recognized by the Nobel Women’s Initiative and the World Trade Organization, among others.
